Palm Coast, Florida- A Semi-Tropical Paradise

Palm Coast Real Estate

Driving down the Atlantic coast of Florida from Jacksonville, a traveler encounters many varied areas of Florida, each with their own distinct personality. No area is more beautiful and exciting than the Fun Coast. The Fun Coast extends from Marineland in the north to the Canaveral National Seashore in the south. Palm Coast is one of the anchor cities of the Fun Coast.

Palm Coast, Florida began life as a planned community and has become one of the fastest growing cities in the country with a population of just over 68,000 residents. The city’s proximity to St. Augustine to the north and Daytona Beach to the south make it the perfect place to live while working in those metropolitan areas.

What appeals most to both residents and visitors alike about Palm Coast is the climate. Its location on the northern part of the coast affords it cooling ocean breezes in the hot summers that temper the climate and allow it to avoid much of the humidity of the southern coast. Its sub-tropical climate also makes for warm winters, perfect for outside activities all year long.

Palm Coast also boasts the fact that it has not taken a direct hit from a hurricane in over 60 years. The city has a unique position on the coast where geography, currents, and prevailing winds often direct hurricanes to the north away from the area.

Palm Coast maintains the distinctive coastal Florida atmosphere- low key, a slower rhythm, and plenty of fun. Those who enjoy golf can indulge at the Grand Club Pine Golf Course- an Arnold Palmer designed 18-hole par 72 championship course managed by Hampton Golf Clubs.

Visitors to the area often stay in the popular Hammock Beach Resort, which houses a spa, fine dining, a deluxe water park and two 18-hole golf courses, one designed by Jack Nicklaus and one by Tom Watson. The Nicklaus course, the Ocean Course, lies along the Atlantic Ocean for some of the best golf scenery on the East Coast.

Palm Coast is also home to the Bird of Paradise Nature Preserve. The sanctuary is open to the public for exploration or just sitting under the palm trees for a picnic lunch. Fishing is also available in the Preserve’s ponds.

For bigger fishing challenges, Palm Coast offers fantastic in-shore and off-shore fishing charters. In-shore fish in the area include redfish, snapper, and black sea bass. Farther afield, tarpon, mahi mahi, grouper, and marlins challenge even the most experienced fishermen. Trips out on the water often include sightings of manatee, dolphins and right whales on their way to the their summer birthing grounds in the waters off of Georgia.

Palm Coast, Florida is a semi-tropical paradise nestled into one of the most exciting coast lines on in the United States. Less crowded than some of the beaches to the south, the city offers peace and tranquility to the coastal visitor. Between the beaches, fishing, shopping and entertainment, Palm Coast is a perfect hideaway from the stresses of everyday life.
